Grand Awards Show preliminaries begin July 21 at the McSwain Theatre

ADA, Okla. -- Preliminaries for the Grand Awards Show begin 7 p.m., July 21, at the historic McSwain Theatre on the corner of Main and Townsend.

The performance competition offers local artists a stage, audience and even a full band to back them up as they compete for audience votes in a number of categories.

July preliminaries will offer a full lineup of local performers in the 16 and under and gospel categories.

Performers in the 16 and under category include: Maddox Ross and Tanner Massey of Choctaw; Callie Burns of Bennington; Emily Faith of Kingfisher; Grace Deering of Ada; Kensingtyn Curtis of Roff; Micah Summers of Moore; and Jack Phillips of Sulphur Bluff, Texas.

Gospel vocalists will include: Brent Smith, April Davis, Clancy Davis, Haley and Harper Miller, Jerry Studebaker and Ken Hancock of Ada; Shannon Herrod of Elmore City; Sherman Andrus of Bethany; Stan Green of Edmond; Wiley and Missy Winters of Pauls Valley; Anne Young of Murphy, Texas; and Cathy Lake of Runaway Bay, Texas.

Five artists per category will advance to the next round. In August, the second preliminary will involve the male and female categories. The third show, in September, will have the top 5 in each category competing for first place within their category.

Winners in each category will be featured in the Grand Awards Show in October as they compete to be crowned overall winner. A separate award will be given to the Entertainer of the Year.

Jae L. and Crossover, known for their monthly show filled with live music and entertainment, will perform alongside competitors. After the Grand Awards Show, Jae L. and Crossover will continue performing on the third Saturday of each month at the McSwain Theatre, 130 W. Main St., Ada, Oklahoma.

Regular admission is $15, seniors receive a discounted $13 admission and tickets for children age 12 and under are $10. Special rates are available for groups of 15 or more.
