Alan Parrish, 12, follows mysterious drum beats leading to a construction site which has uncovered a chest containing a board game called Jumanji. Alan and his friend begin to play the strange game. The two quickly learn that Jumanji has supernatural powers, as Alan is imprisoned inside the game. Years later, Judy and Peter Shepherd have moved into the Parrish home and discover the game in the attic.  As the two begin to play, Alan is freed. Now an adult, Alan realizes what has happened in his absence. With Judy and Peter’s help, Alan must finish the game in order to reclaim the missing years of his life.
